Ludovicus Maria Adrianus, ° 17.12.1850; + 6.10.1929. Tradesman. Active in public affairs: member of the Provincial Council, 1884-1888 and of the Antwerp City Council, 1895-1903. Worked mainly in stereo. Member of the "Cercle d'études photographiques et scientifiques d'Anvers" in 1896-1898; sometimes transcribed "Nieuwlandt" or even "Newlandt". Member of the photography section of the "Katholieke Kring" in 1899. Remained a member of the ABP and commissioner throughout the 1920s. Note that when Jean Damoizeau came to demonstrate his "Cyclographe" on Louis Van Neck's premises on 9.9.1891, one of the attendees was the engineer "Nieuwlandt" [sic?] (Hélios Illustré, 15.9.1891). This was most likely Louis Nieuwland's son Pierre Nieuwland (° Antwerp, 19.5.1866; + Brussels - Etterbeek, 12.5.1951).
