Founder member of the "Société française de Photographie", living in Longlaville [Meurthe-et-Moselle, F] in 1854. Already active in 1842 when described as a "distinguished amateur of the physical sciences" (Lerebours, Traité de Photographie, 1842, 4th ed., p. 11). Described as "one of the most distinguished amateurs in the provinces" (Le Propagateur, 1.6.1854). In 1863-1864 he was identified in SFP membership lists as an inspector of the Belgian telegraph lines at the "Compagnie du Nord".
