Gustave Nys (° Courtrai, 11.2.1846; + Courtrai, 20.5.1908), elder brother of Edouard (see that name). Manufacturer of gelatine-bromide dry plates. In 1889 his company had a daily output of between 150 m² and 200 m². It employed 20 to 25 workmen and its output was worth between 800 and 4000 francs a day. Manufacturing took place in Hoveniersstraat. Employed 8 workmen in 1910. "Nys (frères)" in the Monod directory, 1907-1913. Transformed into a limited company, S.A. Etablissements de Produits Photo-Chimiques, in 1923 with a capital of 500 000 francs. It paid its last dividend in 1933 and was liquidated in 1941.
