Robert Georges, ° 18.9.1857; + 12.2.1899. Engineer. One of the first Belgians to use gelatine-bromide dry plates, manufactured in England. Genre studies. He was the secretary of the Ghent section of the ABP and in that capacity he organised the international exhibition of photography in Ghent in 1880. He left for Hanover [D] at the end of 1880, where he was the manager of a gasworks. He translated texts from German photographic periodicals which were published in the "Bulletin de l'ABP". Not an ABP member, 1883-1890. He became a member of the Ghent section again from 1891 until his death. At that time he was a gas engineer in Lille [F] and secretary of the "Société photographique de Lille". According to his obituary in the "Bulletin de l'ABP", he exhibited in Berlin, Ghent, Lille, and Vienna (dates unspecified).
