Piéron bought this house on 8.8.1892 and requested a building permit at this address a month later. "Near Canal des Brasseurs". From his studio situated on the 4th floor he photographed ships arriving in port and offered a print for sale to the captain a few minutes later. Photographs of sailors against a backdrop with a panorama of the city; first fire of the "Stapelhuis". The studio served as a meeting point for German expatriate photographers such as Karl Moritz and Ludwig Göbelhoff from Hanover. Piéron's successor Henri Rubbens (see that name) reprinted his maritime views in bromide from copy negatives in around 1930.
