° 15.12.1823; + 18.7.1868. Painter of portraits and of religious compositions. Pupil at the Academies of Namur, Louvain, Ghent and Antwerp, and pupil of Henri Van der Haert, director of the Ghent Academy. Ambrotypist. The family has preserved fine portraits, as well as two groups in front of the family farm and a view of the interior of Saint-Hubert's basilica. The latter three plates, format 18 x 24 cm, are remarkable in terms of quality as well as their subject matter, unusual for this process. Some of his portraits - one of them a self-portrait - served as models for his paintings.
