Location on CVs can be misread as "Marcae. Luxembourg". Auto-testimonial on CV back, "The work leaving our studio has been awarded a silver medal and diploma by the government and honoured with orders by the ministries of agriculture and foreign affairs, the bookshops [sic] of the academies of science of Saint Petersburg, London, Paris and St Louis (USA). In 1897 our studio was honoured with an order from the court of Russia."

Documented Dinant in ruins after its bombardment in August 1914. Pirot’s photographs constitute a significant contribution to the visual record of the impact of World War I on the Belgian home front.
