Gommaire Jean, ° 2.2.1822. Sometimes spelled Plateel or Plattel. Daguerreotypist and house painter. At this address as early as 1854, but no mention of photography before 1856. At his sister's wedding in Brussels on 10.2.1858, recorded as a painter aged 36 living in Namur.

Dealer in paints. He made two photographs of the catafalque of Count Joseph Gabriel Ghislain d'Espiennes (° Assevent 1778; + Scy (Namur), 6.7.1860), one in the castle chapel, another in the church at Scy. On the verso is affixed a label: "Photography and daguerreotype by Gommaire Platteel, native of Antwerp".

House painter. According to the directory, he was a photographer here only from 1873 to 1880.
