Henry Louis, ° 7.9.1844; + 9.4.1924. Also spelled "Prod'homme". Mechanical engineer. Graduated from the University of Liège in 1866 and then returned to France. A Communard, during the siege of Paris he was appointed a colonel on the general staff and laid siege to Place Vendôme on 1-2.4.1871. Condemned to death in his absence on 16.11.1872, he escaped to Belgium via England and Jersey. Living in Brussels - Saint-Josse in February 1875. Founder member of the ABP.

Chief engineer and director at "Compagnie des marbreries de Jemelle" owned by Van Mons et Cie. However, due to his insurrectionary past, pressure was put on Prodhomme's employers to sack him and a judicial expulsion order was drawn up, effective on 1.1.1876. Prodhomme moved to Germany, where from 1876 to 1878 he was an engineer and quarry manager for the firm Aluminia in Oberlahnstein near Koblenz [D]. He returned to Belgium in 1881, setting up a concern for mining "Pyronitrine" powder in Putte-Cappellen (province of Antwerp). Prodhomme remained in Belgium and by 1900 he was director-general of the Belgian Mining Trust of South Africa Ltd.
