Jean Guillaume, ° 19.5.1840. Arrived in Antwerp from Düsseldorf [D] in 1874 when he was registered as a journeyman cobbler. Transcribed "Puts, L." in the directories. At this address from 9.11.1886 where Putz and his wife Jeanne Cathérine Janssens (° Wuestwezel, 14.2.1848) ran a café that was alleged to also serve as a place of prostitution. A police report dated 5.1.1890 reads: "Putz claims to be a photographer but does not practice this occupation. His operator appears to be his wife's lover and his customers are women of loose morals". Ernest Emile Rottmann (see that name) was recorded as an operator here in October-November 1891.
