Henricus Joannes Catharina, ° 30.5.1873; + 8.6.1944. At his wedding in Antwerp on 23.1.1896, recorded as a clerk. Director of the periodical "Licht!", 1902-1903, the first Belgian photographic magazine published in Dutch. Founder member of the "Photo-Club d'Anvers" in 1903 and its president, 1908-1911. One of three members who gave a course of instruction on gum printing, beginning on 14.2.1905. Delegate to the "Union nationale des Sociétés belges de photographie", 1909. First prize winner (500 francs) at the Gevaert competition organized during the Brussels International Exposition in 1910. Honorary member of "Fotografische Kring Iris" in 1913 and still a member of the ABP in 1922. Remes went on to practise the bromoil process. Remained active until the late 1930s.
