° 15.5.1871; + 13.10.1896. Also transcribed Ryckebusch; known by her religious name of Sister Marie-Godelieve. Nun and missionary of the “Sœurs de la Charité de Gand”. One of the first female Catholic missionaries to the Congo and almost certainly the first woman to photograph there. Her photographs of the Moanda mission were reproduced in the Sceutist periodical "Missions en Chine et au Congo". She succumbed to a bacterial infection contracted in the course of her mission.
