Itinerant daguerreotypist. "Portraits. Daguerreotipe [sic] in colour, latest improvement, by Mr Robert, painter to the Queen of the Belgians and professor of leading Colleges in Belgium and France, is in Charleroi for two weeks only. Apply to Mme Veuve Baron, Ville-Haute, or the newspaper office, giving two days notice for surrounding areas" (Journal de Charleroi, 9.6.1850). Quite possibly Alexandre Nestor Nicolas Robert (° Trazegnies, 27.2.1817; + Brussels - Saint-Josse, 13.12.1890), painter of religious and historical subjects and portraitist known to have subsequently painted members of the Belgian royal family.
