Charles Louis Gérard, ° 9.4.1832; + 7.1.1892. "Next to the Marcellis iron bridge". Circular letter dated 15.12.1856. He had just received from France a camera for making photographs on paper and on glass. He entered into "an agreement with two of the most competent artists of the country to colour my portrait photographs in watercolour or to paint them in oils". Sold stereoscopes and views. This was his mother Antoinette's house (see that name). Although Charles married on 23.11.1861 and moved to Brabantdam, 81 on 23.1.1862, he maintained a studio here that he shared for a period in the 1860s with his mother; CVs of A. for Antoinette and Charles coexisted at this address.
