Gustave Léon Joseph, ° 3.4.1856; + 2.5.1929. Lawyer and passionate amateur historian. Beginning in 1900, he undertook a long-term and extensive photographic survey of the architectural heritage of Liège and its province, including churches and their furnishings as well as private dwellings. Views of his ancestral home town of Cologne [D], 1905. Corresponding member of the "Commission royale des Monuments et des Sites". Ruhl's collection of around 2000 negatives is preserved at the University of Liège.
