Recorded as a photographer living in Charleroi on the occasion of the publication of his marriage banns to Marie Claire Smits (° Koblenz [Prussia, D], 10.4.1860; + ?, 23.9.1922) on 10.4.1884. Only listed in the 1885 Ghent directory. This address was most likely a temporary studio before Sacré - Smits moved to Place du Commerce.

Arrived here on 17.4.1884, coming from Rue de la Vigne, 50. Recorded as a photographer at this address on 19.10.1885 on the occasion of the birth of a son. Portrait studio and supplies. Sacré - Smits claimed to be the successor of Beernaert Frères, although François Michel had preceded him. In a 1891 advertisement, Sacré - Smits stated that he owned the negatives of Beernaert Frères and was the general agent in Belgium for "Plaques Photographiques Beernaert" (Dubbele wegwijzer der stad Gent en der provincie Oost-Vlaanderen, 1891). On CVs, "opposite the Palace of Justice".
