Auguste Philogène, ° 14.9.1823. The family name was originally Saligo, the homonym of a profoundly derogatory term in French. Therefore it was legally changed to Sartillo with royal assent given on 10.2.1887. At this point in time the Sartillo family was living in Grammont and Philogène was stated not to have a profession. At his daughter Marie's wedding in Mons on 19.4.1890, he was recorded as a photographer domiciled in Mons. Sartillo's younger daughter Eugènie (° Grammont, 30.5.1864) also lived in Grammont at the time of the name change and is nowhere recorded as a photographer.
