Note that a certain Mr. Schindeler, who was the owner of the "Hôtel du Nord" in Laroche, had his photographs published in "Le Globe Illustré" in 1899 and 1900 at the occasion of the periodical's first and second photography competitions.

Edgard Schindeler’s most significant activities as a photographer took place during the interwar years when he was active in Herstal, both as an industrial and landscape photographer. He was house photographer at the industrial concern "Fabrique Nationale de Herstal" from 1921 to 1937. On topographical postcards, imbued with a Pictorialist aesthetic, he would sometimes style himself "Paysagiste" ie, landscape artist. His speciality consisted of views of the Ardennes, artfully composed and published by Nels or by Schindeler himself. Schindeler is reported to have left some 2000 negatives.
