Described as a “well known amateur” when his view of the beach and promenade at Ostend printed in collotype by Castelein was published in "Hélios illustré" of 15.6.1896. Two further photographs would follow over the next year, including another view of Ostend on 15.2.1897. Possibly Désiré Charles Marie Serruys (° Ostend, 3.9.1859; + Ostend, 14.1.1922), notary, engineer, painter and politician.
