° 23.8.1805; + 17.11.1883. Linen merchant. Grandfather of Fernand Sherrington (see that name). In 1846, calotypist in Rotterdam [NL], where he was resident from 1840 to 1852. He took the earliest city views of Rotterdam, a surviving series of 18 salt prints held in the Print Room at the University of Leiden. He moved to Brussels - Ixelles in 1852. We currently know of no photographs taken by Sherrington during his stay in Brussels. He left for Courtrai in 1860.
