Carolus Ludovicus, ° 24.1.1868. Lapidary (stone polisher). Made an honorary member of "Fotografische Kring Iris" on 28.11.1912. Possibly already a member before that, because Iris' 1910-1913 minutes notebook mentions that he had provided projection equipment and lighting for the club on several occasions as early as 1910. In the mid 1920s Smans became a dealer in photographic supplies and phonographs.
