Founded by Edmond Fierlants in 1862 under the trade name "Société Belge de Photographie". The following year the firm adopted the "royal" cachet. The firm traded as a limited company, with shareholders who attended an annual general meeting, usually held in February. "Art photographs, heliotype, chromolithography, photolithography, photographic printing in printers' ink" ("Catalogue de l'exposition des arts industriels", Brussels, 1874).  "Paintings of all schools copied". Directors: Edmond Fierlants, then Alexandre de Blochouse from 1869 until 1885, followed by Henri Xavier Harcq in 1885, and finally Charles Gaspard Thomas from 1885 onwards. In 1888, the "S.A. des Arts Graphiques" merged with the "Société Royale Belge de Photographie". Director-administrator: Henri Bogaerts. Acquired by Félix Wylands in 1893, who discontinued use of the trade name "Société Royale Belge de Photographie". The actual site remained in use for other industrial and commercial purposes throughout the next century but was then razed and is now occupied by a block of flats constructed in 2001.
