Edmond François, ° 12.5.1856; + September 1925. At his wedding in Bruges on 18.6.1895, recorded as an attaché at the Royal Library of Belgium living in Brussels - Ixelles. Member of the "Cercle Photographique d'Ixelles". Somville documented the valleys of the Meuse and Semois, as well as taking picturesque views and studies of châteaux in the provinces of Namur and Luxembourg. He also photographed Bruges. His views are highly atmospheric, capturing the tones and moods of the Belgian landscape. Somville's collection of 701 landscape and townscape negatives, taken between 1890 and 1931, was sold by his two daughters to the "Commissariat général à la Restauration du Pays" in 1943 and is held at the Royal Institute for Cultural Heritage (KIK-IRPA), Brussels.
