Henri Joseph, ° 16.3.1796; + 17.3.1869. Paper manufacturer. There had been a paper mill in Malmédy since 1736 that was acquied by Henri Steinbach - de la Saulx (1757-1831) in 1801. From 1848 onwards, Henri Joseph Steinbach manufactured a paper for coating with photographic emulsions. He was succeeded by his three sons - Alphonse (1830 - 1913), Victor (1836 - 1905) and Jules (1841 - 1904) - trading as Steinbach Frères, 1869-1873; thereafter Steinbach & Cie S.A.
