Frédéric Jean Théodore Edmond, ° 2.9.1866; + 6.9.1940. Chemist; appointed professor in the faculty of engineering at the University of Ghent in 1901. Brother-in-law of Leo Baekeland. Swarts won second prize in a competition organised by the "Touring Club de Belgique" in 1904 with photographs of the Belgian coast, including ships and dunes in De Panne.
