Ferrotypist. "9 gem portraits for 1 Fr"; ferrotype dated 16.8.1881 and ink-stamped "New gem portraits [Portraits Bijou] for I franc". Referred to as "the American operator, Taylor" on the verso of a ferrotype taken at this address on 10.4.1881. A certain Thomas Taylor (1854 - 1919), photographer, lived in London - Shoreditch from 1868 until 1881 and in London - Hackney from 1895 to 1897. Alternatively, a Thomas Taylor was active in Yorkshire [GB] from September 1880 to 1883, operating as the "American Gem Photographer" at 72 Market Street, Bradford and in September 1880, for an unspecified period, concurrently in New Buildings, Silver Street, Halifax.
