° 12.5.1815; + 29.5.1894. Calotypist from 1849 onwards. Excursions into the English countryside producing series of his characteristic rural views. Visit to the Low Countries in May 1857. A view of Bruges, featuring the Begijnhof in the foreground, is in the collections of the Victoria & Albert Museum, London. Turner abandoned photography in 1862 to devote himself exclusively to the family firm manufacturing candles and soap.
