Florimond Arthur Joseph, ° 16.4.1858; + 14.3.1940. Late Romantic and Impressionist painter and engraver. Director of the “Académie des Beaux-Arts de Bruges” from 1910 to 1926. Member of the "Cercle photographique de Bruges" ("Van Acher" in 1908) and president of its exhibition jury. Glass plate images in the holdings of the Bruges municipal archives (Guillaume Michiels collection) depict Van Acker on excursion with other members of the “Cercle”, in particular at the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville. Still listed as a member of "Cercle photographique de Bruges" in 1922.
