° 11.8.1847; + 21.1.1934. Benedictine monk. Novitiate at Maredsous Abbey from its foundation in 1872 and teacher in the abbey school from 18.10.1874. A passionate photographer, he documented the Abbey's development including building work. Van den Abeele is reported to have previously worked as an operator in Ghent. Author of "Principes d'esthétique" published in 1920. The Abbey archives house a set of his glass plate negatives.
