Jean Baptiste Joseph Van den Nest (° Antwerp, 31.7.1803; + Antwerp, 27.5.1872). An engraver and lithographer, he added photography to the activities of his studio. At this address until 24.7.1863.

Photographic, lithographic and engraving establishment. Domiciled at no. 16 from 24.7.1863 until 2.4.1868, then at no. 20 until 1872. He advertised: "In collaboration with my son, Charles, I am involved in all aspects of the art of Photography, at reduced prices, with guaranteed likeness and prompt delivery (Journal d'Anvers, 26.8.1864). From then on, "Etablissement Photographique Van den Nest Père & Fils". After the death of the elder Van den Nest, the studio was probably run by his daughter Maria (° Antwerp, 1839; + Antwerp, 6.6.1922), registered as a lithographer, until she moved out on 17.9.1877.
