° 6.12.1825. Advertised as an itinerant at this address in August 1866. "...portraits on paper in all sizes, up to one metre" (De Maeseycker Waarheidsvriend, 4.8.1866). Initially registered as a painter in various localities in the Netherlands: Broek and Gouda until 1856, then Zuid-Waddinxveen until 1857 and Gouda until 1859. Subsequently registered as an artist and photographer in Den Bosch until 1862, then in Veghel until 1863 before moving to Roermond. Witness at a niece's wedding in Brussels on 3.9.1867 when he was recorded as an artist painter aged 41 still living in Roermond. Van Elewyck remained a studio photographer in Roermond before leaving the Netherlands for Brussels in 1868.
