Armand Joseph Marie Constant, ° 30.4.1877; + 16.6.1937. Furniture manufacturer. Member of the "Photo-Club Malinois". Brother of Josse Van Thielen (see that name). Active in the Belgian Red Cross, Van Thielen was president of the "Mechelsche Kring der Ziekenverplegers" in 1903 and one of the first qualified ambulance drivers in Belgium. Initially emigrated to the USA in 1914 but returned to Belgium to see action as an lieutenant in the engineers. Van Thielen was appointed secretary of the Belgian Consulate in Chicago [Illinois, USA] in 1921, a post he occupied for many years.
