Edgardus Josephus Maria, ° 7.10.1868. Initial "E." in 1906 and 1914 directories. Recorded as a shoemaker resident in Zottegem at the occasion of his wedding to Maria Elisa Bert (° Strijpen, 18.2.1870) in Zottegem on 12.1.1898. The studio was located on the third floor of a building on the corner of Rue Haute and the Grand Place. From this vantage point, he took clandestine photographs during World War I, including an extraordinary view of Kaiser Wilhelm's motorcade during his escape into exile in November 1918. Van Wambeke’s shoe shop occupied the ground floor. Continued to operate here during the interwar period.
