Vice-president of the “Cercle d’études photographiques et scientifiques d’Anvers”, 1908-1912. In a change of career, Van de Velde signed on as a ship’s doctor in 1911 and subsequently settled in Detroit [Michigan, USA]. Returned to Belgium in 1948.
