° 28.1.1834. Probably the oldest photography firm still operating in Belgium today ("Studio Verhassel / photographes de reportages", Brussels - Schaerbeek). Recorded as a photographer aged 24 domiciled in Brussels when signing as witness on the death certificate of Jean Louis Bargignac (= B. Leba) in Brussels on 10.6.1858. Recorded as a clerk in the Brussels population register when living at Rue Neuve, 94. Left for Antwerp on 2.1.1860. Verhassel took ambrotypes in Diest. His wedding certificate of 11.4.1863 recorded his domicile as Brussels - Molenbeek.

Arrived here on 10.2.1864. Left for Diest on 12.8.1865.

On CV, "Inventor of a system of permanent photography applicable to enlargements. Portrait studio, specially arranged for photography." It appears that this branch studio existed only for a short while.
