Activity
1868 * - 1897 Turnhout, Rue Saint-Antoine, corner Warandestraat
Predecessor: Verryck - Fleetwood Antoni Successor: Verryck Jos #
Jean Baptiste Verryck, ° 11.11.1830, married Marie Jeanne Theodora Heylaers [sic] (° Turnhout, 15.5.1833) in Turnhout on 19.11.1855. Younger brother of Jean Antoine / Jan Antoon (Antoni) Verryck - Fleetwood (see that name). The alternative spelling "Hylaerts" is found on photographic prints. Also CV with manuscript signature "Verryck - Heylaerts", c. 1865. When management of the studio at this address was transferred on 2.4.1868 and Verryck - Fleetwood moved to Tirlemont, Verryck - Heylaerts published an advertisement to confirm the succession in which he "recognises his brother's firm and recommends it to everybody's favour (De Kempenaar, 20.6.1868). Recorded as a photographer living in Turnhout when witness at a sister's wedding in Brussels on 25.3.1872. It is possible that photographic activity here was secondary or intermittent, since Verryck was recorded as a hairdresser in Turnhout in 1874 and the trade directories list him as a photographer ("J.B. Verryck") only from 1885 onwards.
