The Antwerp population registry first recorded Edward Walton as an artist-painter who arrived from Sunderland [GB] in August 1862. He resided at different addresses in Antwerp in 1863, 1866, 1872 and 1875, each time recorded as an artist-painter. His stay in Belgium was punctuated with returns to his native region: his son, Edward Joseph, was born in Durham [GB] on 4.11.1869 and Walton declared returning from Darlington [GB] in August 1872. CV with no first name at no. 318. It cannot be excluded that Edward (Fils) assisted his father or even took over the studio in Antwerp - Borgerhout - see relevant entry.
