Hermes Joannes, ° 24.4.1849; + 2.12.1924. Moved to this address on 1.9.1902. His son "Polydore" Léopold Washer (° Rio de Janeiro [BRA], 20.6.1879; + Ghent, 13.3.1963) was also recorded as a photographer at this address and must have played an important part in running the studio, since some directories list "P. Washer" as a photographer here. Polydore Washer was also a commissioner of the "Union des Photographes Professionnels de Gand" in 1913-1914. Hermes Washer was still operating at this address in the 1920s and living here at the time of his death.
