Franciscus Georgius Joannes Antonius Ernestus, ° 4.6.1877; + 13.1.1945. First name sometimes spelled "Franz". After failed law studies became a clerk. Husband of writer Marie Gevers (° Edegem, 30.12.1883; + Edegem, 9.3.1975) and brother-in-law of Auguste Demblon (see that name). Shareholder, together with Demblon, in the photographic supply house of "Edmond Bastijns & Cie", founded on 1.3.1902. Member of the "Cercle d'études photographiques et scientifiques d'Anvers". Marie Gevers inherited a fortune when her father, a sugar baron, died in 1907. Following their wedding in 1908, the couple moved to Missenburg (or Mussenborg) castle in Edegem. At which point Willems seems to have abandoned his commercial and photographic interests in favour of fine-art painting.
