[= Place du Spectacle = Place de la République française]. ° 10.4.1813; + 15.7.1873. Daguerreotypist and painter. J.F. Boehnke was initially recorded in the foreigners register in 1850. He is perhaps the William who is mentioned in the Charivari, Belgian edition, on 20.4.1850: "Mr William, who has given us such a great number of fine pictures of phantasmagoria, poliorama, chromatrope, etc."

Patent of 31.8.1854 (no address) for "a copying system by means of the daguerreotype". William, "photographer from Paris, patented by H.M. the King of the Belgians", operated from the Hotel "Oud Keizershof" in Den Bosch [NL] in July 1856.

Photographer and café owner. He arrived from Dunkirk [F], where he claimed to have been "Photographer by appointment to His Majesty Leopold I, King of the Belgians". Studio in Dunkirk, Rue Mauriennne, 10, 1865-1866 ca. An earlier CV of 1860 ca bears a simple blue ink stamp: "William Dunkerke". A certain William (no initial) is recorded as operating in Lille [F], Rue de la Quenette, 5b in the late 1850s. He left Antwerp for Brussels in 1871, but is still listed in the 1873 directory at this address.
