Hypolitus Carolus Hubertus, ° 17.12.1845; + 8.5.1915. Sometimes written Hyppolyte Wauwermans. Maritime insurance agent. He appears to have practised as a professional for a period in the 1870s and 1880s judging from the presentation of his CVs and larger-format prints bearing an ink-stamp with address (Rempart des Beguines, 106). Subsequently, he was active as an amateur. Founder member of the photographic section of the "Cercle artistique, littéraire et scientifique d'Anvers" and president from 1893 until at least 1911.
