° 15.8.1852. Domiciled in Brussels in 1890 and registered as a business clerk. Employee of G. Zazzarini & Co. Does not appear in the ABP membership lists between 1895 and 1897 when he left for Moscow to work as a print dealer with his brother Emiliano. A certain B. Avanzo operated a portrait studio in Moscow so it is possible they were working together at this time.

Arrived in Brussels from Moscow on 7.1.1897. Representative of the Gecele studio, then successor to Veuve S. Gecele in 1909: in 1913, still described as the "former Gecele studio". Supplies for photographers and cameras; also dealer in photographs. Active member of the ABP Brussels section where he distributed samples for testing, for instance "Phébus" brand developer on 19.2.1900. There is a sample album of coloured carbon prints manufectured by Illingworth & Co. and sold by Avanzo in the holdings of "Musées royaux d'Art et d'Histoire" in Brussels.
Member of the "Club d’amateurs photographes de Belgique". Listed at this address in 1922 as a member of the ABP and of the "Cercle d'Art Photographique". Still trading at this address as "Avanzo Frères & Soeur, succ. Denis Avanzo" in 1935-1938 and "Maison D. Avanzo" in 1939; the business was run by two nephews until the late 1950s.
