Monu was deaf-mute and founded the "Maatschappij voor Doofstommen van Antwerpen" [Association of Deaf-mutes of Antwerp] or "MADOSA" on 11.2.1894. Left this address on 12.12.1901.

Subsequently registered at a different address in Antwerp in 1908-1911.
