At the club's exhibition "Farms and country views", held in December 1915 - January 1916, Vermeylen’s display was singled out for praise: "His eight photographs are without doubt the best in the exhibition, some reproducing splendid masses and silhouettes of farms and barns" (Vlaamsche Nieuws / Vlaamsche Gazet, 1.1.1916). Moved to Boechout after World War I. Vermeylen’s main activity as an amateur art photographer took place in the interwar period, up to 1932.
